This website is all about the youth work taking place in the Bristol District of the Methodist Church with young people aged 11-23.
Here you can find info about District Youth Events, photos & clips from previous events & news about upcoming ones. You can also read about the District Youth Council, find a local youth group/project/ worship near you, read a basic guide to the Methodist Church structure and find out further information using the links.
There is a section for Youth Workers too (voluntary & employed) containing useful information resources, templates, examples of risk assessments & policies for you to use, links and contacts.
The Bristol District Youth Council is a God centred team who represent the youth of the Methodist Church's Bristol District. They encourage young people from across the district to communicate and support each other and to explore their own personal relationship with God. They are involved in the organisation and promotion of district youth events. They strive to inspire and to let the young people know that they can have a voice in the Methodist Church, reassuring them that they are all valued members of the Methodist Church.
There are 12 members on the DYC this year (2013-2014) from across the district. There are also 3 adults who work alongside them, supporting them, they are Emma, Ben Scrivens & Andrew Biggs.
They aim to meet as a group 3-4 times a year to discuss district youth events & issues and explore what it means to be a God Centred team. They attend the annual District Youth Event and are encouraged to attend the youth event planning meetings and the national Methodist Children & Youth Conference called 3Generate.
Click here to see the DYC handbook which the team created which contains a list of DYC goals, and a huge list of expectations along with the mission statement.
A Bristol District Youth Event takes place once a year.
The next event will be a sleepover followed by a THORPE PARK trip.
This will be in the Autumn of 2014. Download our poster with more information.
3Generate is the Methodist Church's Children & Youth Assembly/Conference. This is a national event for 8-23 year olds and the next one is on 14th-16th November 2014 in Shropshire.
